Unităţi de alimentare neîntreruptibile (UPS)

UPS-urile (Uninterruptible Power Supply) sunt surse de alimentare neîntreruptibile folosite pentru electro-alimentare de siguranţă, de rezervă. Aceste echipamente se conectează între reţeaua de alimentare şi consumatori, cu scopul de a proteja consumatorii de perturbaţiile existente în reţeaua de alimentare publică şi de pane de curent, care ar putea duce la deteriorarea aparatajelor conectate, pierderea datelor, periclitarea vieţii sau alte daune. UPS-le sunt montate cu acumulatoare, care menţin alimentarea consumatorilor în cazul căderii tensiunii din reţeaua publică.

Domenii de aplicare
Calculatoare personale, reţele de calculatoare, servere, case de marcat, periferice, birouri, telecomunicatii, bănci, spitale, clinici, siteuri industriale, aeroporturi, centrale electrice, centrale nucleare, etc.
Clasificare UPS-uri
UPS-urile se pot clasifica în funcţie de:
  • putere (de la fracţiuni de kVA la mii de kVA)
  • tip (off-line, line-interactive, on-line)
  • număr faze (intrare / ieşire)
  • variantă de construcţie (tower sau rack)
  • caracteristici tehnice (cu ieşire sinusoidală, echipat cu AVR, cu dublă conversie etc.)
